Lakefront Home

We received 10" of snow a week ago. . . then the beginning of this week we received several inches of hard rain, within a 24 hr. period, which melted all the snow. This equates to our home now sits on a lake! We live on a river, which is normally approx. 100 ft. wide ~ it is totally out of its banks, creeping to the bottom of the hill where our home rests. The flat farm fields on the opposite river bank are under water. This "basin" of our little lake is now over a quarter of a mile wide, nearing 1/2 mile. We don't worry about it climbing our hill because there are plenty more acres of flat ground on the other end. Scott said this morning, he believes this is the most water we've seen in our 15+ yrs. here. His wheels start spinning about how we could flood the river permanantly, create a full time lake and open our own duck/goose hunting club! I'm sure we'd have a few family members that would support that plan!

That would be an awesome idea! We could even bring our swimsuits and hang out by the "pool"!
Have a GREAT weekend in Chicago!!
