A Blank Canvas

Finally, the landscaping project is completed...well, at least for now until spring arrives. Let's say the "hardscapes" are done. We no longer have a walk that may trip you or crumbling steps to fall onto the front porch! We just have a smooth glide all the way in to visit us. The best part is . . . we were left with a "blank canvas" in the area we call the "island", a large flower bed approx. 30' X 15' with dirt like coffee grounds - scrumptious! and sun! By taking out 4-5 very LARGE trees we opened up to sunshine. I am already dreaming of long blooming perrenials bursting in a multitude of colors. Gardening is my "thing" for anyone who doesn't know me well. We also have 3 small areas out front now with sod - Kentucky Blue Grass to be exact! Who would have ever thought we would have that??!? That's what a little sunshine can do for ya.

Every bone/muscle whatever in my body hurts from planting yesterday. Forty degrees in Dec. and I dug in the dirt for 8-9 hrs. I had several plants that had to get back in the ground before hard winter or they wouldn't stand a chance of surviving. I will probably have to relocate most of them in the spring ~ because my "shade" plants will all get too much sun now. Oh well.

Come visit - you won't "fall" for us anymore . . . at least not on the front steps!
