Omaha or Bust

We, along with most of Scott's family, headed to Omaha, NE this past weekend for 3 days. We were attending a wedding reception for Scott's nephew Chris and his new wife Abby. It was a whirlwind trip. We arrived Friday eve, in time for dinner with the Roberts' clan. Sat. morn. started off with a freak accident at the breakfast buffet that involved a runaway tray, some broken ceramic plates and 5 stitches in Allie's foot at- where else ?? - Creighton Medical Center. . . (Daddy is a Creighton grad.!) Allie was confined to a wheel chair all weekend. (We decided "piggy back" rides everywhere got old in a hurry!)
The weekend quickly got better as we celebrated, with Chris and Abby, at their reception. She, and her family, are all great. We approve! It was fun to all be together. (We missed Sarah and Howie - they were unable to attend.) We were able to get tickets to the Olympic Time Trials (swimming- of coarse!), on Sunday. They are being held this week in Omaha ~ perfect for our crew! We were able to see Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Katie Hoff all swim, in addition to many others. These three each broke world records on Sun. in the 400 I.M. It was very moving to watch them glide across the water. I was ready to stand up and wave my U.S. flag! I'm proud to be an American! We are all looking forward to the Olympics in Aug. We were able to meet many of the athlites who were competing this week in Omaha. Quite a few were staying at our hotel. . . so we rode the elevators with some, ate breakfast with team groups surrounding us and chatted in the lobby with others - We'd ask them their strokes and get their times. It was a lot of fun since we have three competitive swimmers in the family.
